The 72-year-old veterinarian takes to the road in Minneapolis’s Lake Minnetonka suburbs, where he makes house calls in his mobile animal hospital.
In addition to treating four-footed patients in his clinic on wheels for the last 15 years, he has been busy introducing minority groups to tennis, in which he excels, through programs of the United States Tennis Association. Recruiting minorities into veterinary medicine is another project.
Along the way, he maintains an upbeat, positive outlook. “Age is just a number,” he says. As we observe Black History Month, Philmon is a good person to know. He helped make that history.
Unfortunately the original article is no longer online at the QuadCities Times. We had permission to reprint only the first paragraph or so, and we did appreciate that! Sorry, But the rest of the article is no longer available.
